Steps

Remove All Previous Instances of Tagging Code

  • Navigate to your Shopify admin panel.
  • Go to Online Store > Themes > Actions > Edit Code.
  • Locate and remove any existing Google Analytics (GA4) and conversion tracking code in your theme files to avoid double counting.

Set Up the New Customer Event

Add the Code in Shopify Customer Events

  • Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
  • Go to Settings > Customer Events.
  • Create a new customer event and name it appropriately.
  • Paste the copied code into the customer events area.
  • Replace G-XXXXX ID with your actual Google Analytics tracking ID.
  • Replace your conversion id/label with your actual conversion ID and label from your Google Ads account.

Save and Connect Your New Customer Event

  • After pasting and updating the code, save your new customer event.
  • Ensure it is connected and active on your Shopify site.
